The 900 cc turbo 2-cylinder 85 horsepower gasoline-fueled engine makes use of small turbines which decreases transient response time while keeping the output excellent when combined with strategies for the management of the dedicated valves. The TwinAir powerplant also features a Start&Stop system.

The Fiat 500 has a fuel consumption of 4.1L for every 100 kilometers while the emission for the engine coupled with a manual gearbox is 95 g/km.

Fiat also provides an ECO button where the driver can select 2 driving modes. The Normal mode turns the ECO mode off and allows the max torque of 107 lb ft. Switch to ECO mode and the torque is limited to 74 lb-ft.

The MultiAir technology gives way to max power boost, improve fuel efficiency, lower emissions, and better engine response.
